What is RouteMuse?
RouteMuse is a road trip planning tool that generates a complete day-by-day travel guide based on your route, interests, and driving preferences. You get sightseeing recommendations, fuel and toll cost estimates, ferry information, and a beautifully formatted PDF delivered to your inbox.
How does it work?
Enter your starting city, destination, what you like to see, and how many hours you want to drive per day. RouteMuse plans your route, breaks it into daily legs, and generates a full guide tailored to your trip. The free preview shows you the route and cost estimates. Upgrading to a full guide adds detailed sightseeing recommendations, navigation links, and the PDF.
Does it work for routes outside Europe?
Yes. RouteMuse works for road trips anywhere in the world. The route planning, sightseeing recommendations, and itinerary generation work globally.
Is the free guide really free?
Yes, completely. No account required for the free preview. You only need an account to purchase and generate full guides.
What is the difference between the free guide and the full guide?
The free guide shows you the route, overnight stops, driving times, and a cost breakdown by country. The full guide adds a complete day-by-day itinerary with sightseeing recommendations matched to your interests, ferry details, navigation links, accommodation search links, and a formatted PDF delivered to your email.
Do guide credits expire?
No. Guide credits never expire. Buy them when it suits you and use them whenever you travel.
Can I use my credits for different trips?
Yes. Each credit generates one full guide for any route in the world. There are no restrictions on where or when you use them.
What is the Two-Pac plan?
Two-Pac gives you two guide credits at €4.99. It’s ideal for two-way routes — generate a guide for the outward journey and a separate one for the return, with different stops and sightseeing along the way. You can also use the two credits for completely separate trips.
How long does it take to generate a full guide?
Usually under a minute. You’ll receive the PDF by email shortly after confirming generation. If it takes longer than a few minutes, check your spam folder.
Can I regenerate a guide if I made a mistake in my inputs?
Unfortunately not automatically, each generation uses one credit. If you experience a technical issue that prevents a usable guide from being delivered, contact us at hello@routemuse.me and we’ll sort it out.
How accurate are the fuel and toll estimates?
Fuel costs are calculated based on your car’s fuel type, real consumption rates, and current fuel prices per country. Toll estimates use real per-kilometre rates and flat vignette costs for each country on your route. They’re a solid planning estimate, but actual costs can vary due to traffic, driving style, and price changes. Always verify before travel.
What is a vignette?
A vignette is a prepaid motorway sticker or digital pass required in certain countries instead of per-use tolls. Countries on common European routes that require vignettes include Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania. RouteMuse flags these in your guide with the approximate cost.
Does RouteMuse account for ferry crossings?
Yes. If your route includes a ferry crossing, RouteMuse detects it automatically, flags the operator and approximate sailing time, and shows an estimated cost for car and driver. Ferry costs are shown separately from road tolls.
What payment methods do you accept?
All major credit and debit cards are accepted. Payments are processed securely by Paddle, our payment provider. We never store your card details.
Why am I charged in EUR?
RouteMuse prices in EUR as the legal entity behind it is in Europe. If your card is in a different currency, your bank applies its standard conversion rate. Paddle handles all tax and VAT obligations automatically based on your location.
Can I get a refund?
If you haven’t used any credits, you can request a full refund within 14 days of purchase. Once a guide has been generated and delivered, that credit is consumed. Full details are in our Refund Policy at routemuse.me/refund-policy. Contact hello@routemuse.me for any refund requests.
I didn’t receive my PDF — what do I do?
First check your spam or junk folder. If it’s not there, make sure the email address on your account is correct. If the issue persists, contact us at hello@routemuse.me with your account email and we’ll resend it or replace the credit.
Does the app work on mobile?
Yes. RouteMuse works on all devices — mobile, tablet, and desktop. The PDF is optimised for both screen viewing and printing.
How do I reset my password?
On the login screen, click “Forgot password?” and follow the instructions sent to your email.
Is my data safe?
Yes. Passwords are stored encrypted, payment details are never stored on our servers, and we don’t sell your personal data to third parties. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
What does Flexible mode mean?
In Flexible mode you enter how many hours you want to drive per day, and RouteMuse builds the route with as many stops as needed to keep each day within that limit. There’s no fixed number of days — the route expands to fit your pace.
What does Fixed Days mode mean?
In Fixed Days mode you enter exactly how many days you want the trip to take, and RouteMuse builds the route to fit that timeframe.
What does “avoid optional ferries” mean?
Some routes can be completed either by road or by taking an optional ferry to save time. Ticking this option tells RouteMuse to keep your route on land where possible. Mandatory ferry crossings — where there is no practical road alternative — are always included regardless of this setting.
What is a two-way route?
A two-way route generates two separate guides — one for the outward journey and one for the return. The return guide uses different overnight stops and sightseeing recommendations so you discover new places on the way back. Two-way routes use two guide credits.
Can I plan a road trip with a specific city I want to pass through?
Not yet — but it’s coming in a future update. For now, you can include a waypoint city as your start or end point of a leg by planning the trip in segments.
