RouteMuse (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates routemuse.me and app.routemuse.me. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2.1 Account Data When you register, we collect your email address and a hashed password. We use this to authenticate you and deliver your guides.
2.2 Trip Data When you generate a route, we collect the trip details you enter: start and end cities, interests, driving preferences, and car details. This data is processed to generate your guide and is not sold to third parties.
2.3 Payment Data Payments are processed by Paddle. We do not collect or store your payment card details. Paddle may collect billing name, address, and payment information in accordance with their own privacy policy, available at paddle.com/legal/privacy.
2.4 Usage Data We may collect basic usage data such as pages visited, features used, and error logs, for the purpose of improving the Service. This data is not linked to identifiable individuals where avoidable.
2.5 Cookies We use cookies for authentication and session management. No advertising or tracking cookies are used. You may disable cookies in your browser settings, though this may affect your ability to log in.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use your data to:
- Provide and operate the Service
- Generate and deliver your road trip guides via email
- Send transactional emails (guide delivery, account notifications)
- Improve Service performance and fix technical issues
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties for marketing purposes.
4. Third-Party Services
To operate the Service, we share data with the following third parties, each governed by their own privacy policies:
- OpenAI (openai.com) — your trip details are sent to OpenAI’s API to generate guide content. OpenAI processes this data in accordance with their privacy policy and API data usage policies.
- Google Maps Platform (google.com) — city names and location queries are sent to Google Maps APIs for distance calculation and autocomplete. Google’s privacy policy applies to this data.
- Paddle (paddle.com) — processes your payment and handles VAT/tax obligations. Paddle acts as Merchant of Record for all transactions.
- SendGrid (sendgrid.com) — used to deliver PDF guides and account emails to your inbox.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or financial compliance purposes.
6. Your Rights
Under applicable data protection law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data (“right to be forgotten”)
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable format
